Our Journey to Fuzhou

This morning, we took a trip to Xander's orphanage in Fuzhou. We were hoping to get to meet his foster family, but we were advised once we got there that his foster mother was too sad after he left so her family took her away on vacation. It seems that the lady keeping Xander was in her sixties! While we don't know much else about her, it seems clear that he was loved.
Inside the orphanage, we were able to see Xander's finding spot, the room he slept in when we first arrived, and some of the workers/children there. (We are not allowed to post pictures from inside the orphanage) Though Xander lived mostly in foster care, it was good to get a picture of where it all started for him. The director was very kind and you could definitely tell he was loved. They even had a sign made up to welcome him back (shown below).

The two above pictures are of the gates outside of the orphanage were Xander was most likely left in a box.

After we returned to the hotel, we went for a swim and let the kids play a little bit. It's 6:40 here local time and everyone is tired. I'm not thinking that our body clocks are ever going to get accustomed to local time. In any case, we're thinking of trying to make it another early bedtime before we go to visit Parker's orphanage tomorrow.
